Social Emotional Learning @ HAMS
What is Social Emotional Learning
aka S.E.L?
Social Emotional Learning (or S.E.L) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
As a system, it is focused on meeting the needs of the whole child.

Why do we Teach S.E.L.
at Hannah Ashton?
Social Emotional Learning (or S.E.L) aims to provide skills to learners in areas like setting and achieving goals, building healthy relationships, communicating effectively with others, and working from a growth mindset. In order to teach the whole child, we provide weekly SEL content to the entire school community where our students work together and independently to develop meaningful skills to carry forward in life.
