WELCOME, HAMS FAMILIES!

The topic of SEL in schools hasn't been around for too long. In recent years, the focus has shifted in the field of education to not only focus on core subjects like math, science, language arts, and social studies; but to incorporate the long-lasting lessons on how to be a good friend, handle conflict with others in a healthy way, set realistic goals for yourself, and participate in healthy relationships.

Some of the content within the SEL curriculum, primarily Second Step, focuses heavily on thoughts, emotions, and feelings. These can be difficult topics for some to talk about and we at HAMS completely understand that. Just as our kids are growing and building these new skill sets, we want to offer the same opportunities to the adults in their lives (teachers & staff included).

The SEL team has compiled some helpful resources to keep the learning going outside of school. Our hope is that you will join us in this journey and encourage the students in your life to do the same. We are so excited to have you on our team!
